Champions League winding down

The UEFA Champions League is down to it's final four teams: Real Madrid (La Liga), Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), AS Roma (Serie A), and Liverpool (Premiere League).  I'm pretty thrilled that four different countries/leagues are represented and tickled that with the exception of Bayern, none of the others will win their respective leagues this year.  I've pretty much followed each of the four leagues, Serie A less than the others, and have my opinions on them all.

I've long been a Real Madrid fan and was privileged to be able to see them play Roma a couple of years ago in the ICC in Dallas.  I've not been as hyped about them this year and their play has seemed uneven.  They've lost to teams they had no business losing to and have played ugly in others.  Christiano Ronaldo has only recently hit his stride and I've yet to see the famed BBC running on all cylinders.  Rumors abound that this is the final stretch for these three together and I'd love to see them go out on a high note. Zizzou is also rumored to be leaving and I wonder how this impacts the team. By the way, I'm still mad about James Rodriquez. I thought he was misused.  Love Keylor Navas and am kind of irritated that he's still persistently put down and rumors have still had RM shopping for a 'premiere goalkeeper' when they have one!

In the past few years, I've become a fan of Munich.  It all started when Xabi Alonso left Madrid to play there, and now that James is there ... They've had no trouble winning the Bundesliga again and lately it's seemed as if their only competition has actually been in Champions League.  I'm sure that's not true, and they've had some good league games, but still.  They've run away with the title.  Lately though, they haven't fared as well in Champions League and I'm curious to see how they will play against RM.  I will be torn as I love both teams.

I do like Liverpool and basically that's because of the coach and Mo Salah.  I love to watch him play.  He has a joy about him, like it's not a job, it's still play. Manchester City ran away with BPL this season, but it looks like Liverpool has been playing better lately.  If Salah is at 100%, I think they have a good shot.

I have the least opinion on Roma.  It does say a lot about them, however, that they came back from three goals down and knocked Barcelona out of the tournament. I admit that I counted them out after the first leg, but I won't make that mistake again

I find it curious that the draw has the traditional juggernauts going against each other in these Semis, but I'm looking forward to both sets of matches.
